The first 20 electric buses with zero-emissions in the environments are already running in Sofia. As of today, December 12, they service the regular public transport lines №309 and №9. By the end of this year and in the next year, we will launch another 142 new gas-fuelled buses meeting the highest eco-standard EURO6. This said the Mayor of Sofia, Yordanka Fandakova at the presentation of the new electric busses.

The modernization of urban transport is part of the measures to improve air quality. So far, we have replaced 60% of buses, and next year the percentage of new buses on city lines will be 90%.

The electric busses have built-in batteries with a capacity of 324 kWh and a run of 320 km out of a single charge. They are accessible for people with mobility difficulties, and are equipped with air-conditioners and USB-sockets to charge mobile devices; Wi-Fi will also be available.

In order to promote the use of electric cars, we have organised a competition for the construction of 50 charging stations in different parts of the city.

Forthcoming is the conclusion of a contract for the supply of 15 new electrics busses for "Sofia Public Electrical Transport Company”.
