The planting of new trees continues in the parks of Sofia

Fandakova: "For five years, more than 300 000 people have visited the Vrana park-museum"

Sofia is a very green city. Today we continue planting new trees, said the Mayor of Sofia, Yordanka Fandakova, who, together with the Ambassador of Azerbaijan, Her Excellency Dr. Nargiz Gurbanova, planted three new oriental sycamore trees in the Vrana park-museum.

Yordanka Fandakova thanked Her Excellency, the Ambassador of Azerbaijan for the initiative to plant trees, which contributes to the beauty of our city. 

More than 300 000 people have visited the park for the past five years since it was opened for the citizens by Sofia Municipality. “During these years, we are opening new green spaces for the citizens for rest and recreation”, said Mayor Fandakova. 

Vrana Park is designed in the form of European landscape parks. Its development started in the beginning of the last century by King Ferdinand I. Today, the park has over 800 plant species supplied from all over the world. The mayor highlighted that the restoration and improvement of the green system of Sofia is a major task of Sofia Municipality. 

Fandakova thanked the team of the municipal enterprise Parks and Gardens and its director, Milena Vaseva. 

During this spring season, Sofia Municipality planted 1 200 trees along streets and boulevards, and in parks and gardens. So far, 478 trees have been planted  along “Tsar Boris III” Blvd., “Slivnitsa” Blvd., “Hristo Botev” Blvd., “Stefan Stambolov” Blvd., “Gyueshevo” Str., “Bolyarska” Str., “Pirotska” Str. “Veliko Tarnovo” Str., “Krakra” Str., “Shipka” Str., “Rakovska” Str., “San Stefano” Str., etc. and 320 - in Zaimov Park, St. Peter and Paul Park, St. Trinity Park, West Forest Park, Lyulin Park, Maichin Dom Garden, etc.

The planting of 120 thousand trees continues in the New Forest of Sofia in Suhodol quarter.
