Sofia Municipality held a number of events under a project funded under the Territorial Cooperation Programs

A series of closing events took place in May and June 2019 under the project Unlocking the potential of young people for business and social innovation in the Danube Region (NewGenerationSkills). The project is implemented under the Danube 2014-2020 Transnational Cooperation Program, the funds being provided by the European Regional Development Fund, the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA) and national co-financing provided by the state budget.

Within the project framework, on May 30, 2019, the last sixth event of the local community took place in 1st Secondary School “Pencho Slaveykov”. The event was attended by more than 90 students, representatives of the education sector and social entrepreneurs. The guests were made aware of the achieved project results as well as of the portfolio of the Innovation Laboratory established within the project, which aims to provoke young people to use their intellectual potential more actively to generate innovative ideas. As successful and illustrative examples of social entrepreneurship, at the event were invited representatives of the Bread Houses Network and NadEzhko social bakery as well as Mrs. Berg from Box to Remember. The two organizations presented to the young people their activities as well as their mission - to work to improve the employment opportunities of disadvantaged people.

 The series of final events continued with the participation of the team in the final workshop in Budapest, Hungary, in the period June, 03 – 04, 2019. During the visit the implementation of project activities was analyzed and a panel discussion related to ensuring its sustainability was organized. Within the two-day event, a transnational fair was held to present innovative ideas from seven youth teams from Hungary, Austria, Slovenia, Romania, the Czech Republic, Serbia and Bulgaria who successfully passed the six-month training programs at the Innovation Lab. On the Bulgarian side participated the first ranking team at the technological exhibition Web it Festival 2019 with a developed innovative educational computer game.

 On June 7, 2019, was held the last sixth meeting of the Local Advisory Group for innovation, established under the project. The meeting addressed the Local Action Plan, which aims to track the overall implementation, to set future targets and plan their implementation in order to build upon the results achieved.
