A month after his two performances in the Sofia Opera, the world-famous ballet dancer and choreographer wrote in a letter to Mayor Yordanka Fandakova that he hoped to come back to Sofia. "I hope to able to take advantage of your invitation and return to your beautiful city," wrote Mikhail Baryshnikov. And further on: “I am glad that my love for the works of Joseph Brodsky and my memory of him, a close friend who really miss, will open new horizons for his fans."
On January 19th and 20th, one of the greatest ballet dancers in history presented in Sofia his new passion - the theatre - with the one-man production Brodsky / Baryshnikov. The Bulgarian audience was conquered by the poems of Joseph Brodsky spoken and experienced to the stage by Mikhail Baryshnikov. This performance is a turning point in life for the ballet dancer, a transition from dance to theatre. For four years now, Brodsky / Baryshnikov has been touring the world stage enjoying a great success.
