In four districts in Sofia we are fully modernizing 18 schools and kindergartens. All works are being completed, according to the approved schedule. Contracts for 8 more educational institutions are to be signed soon. This is what the Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova commented, while inspecting the repairs, taking place at the 15thSecondary School - Adam Mickiewicz in the Nadezhda District, which is among the schools, included in the project, funded by Operational Programme “Regions in Growth”. The inspection was also attended by the Deputy Mayor of “Investments and Development“ Irina Savina and the District’s Mayor Eng. Dimitar Dimov. 

All the systems are being replaced, the exterior walls are renovated with thermal insulation and other energy efficiency measures are being implemented as well. The project involved significant organization, both with respect to the educational process and the repair works. 

Currently repairs are under way at 10 Schools and 7 Kindergartens in the Krasna Polyana, Vrabnitsa, Nadezhda and Ilinden districts. We are investing over BGN 42 million in overhauls and energy efficiency measures at 26 schools and kindergartens.

This year Sofia Municipality budget includes an item of over BGN 71 million for education, continued Mayor Fandakova. 15 new kindergartens and complete reconstruction with expansion of existing buildings are to be carried out, as we have already started 7 of them last year and the work continues. We are investing in the construction of new extensions to 11 schools as 5 of them will have new gyms.
