Approximately 90% of the works for the construction of the Line 3 metro station - “Bulgaria Boulevard”- have been completed. Sofia’s Mayor Yordanka Fandakova and “Metropoliten” EAD’s CEO Prof. Stoyan Bratoev inspected the progress of the project. The finishing works are currently under way.
The “Bulgaria Boulevard” Metro Station is situated at the crossing of the Bulgaria and Academic Ivan Geshov Boulevards and it forms part of Line 3, being implemented under the Operational Programme “Transport and Transport Infrastructure.
The tests with metro trains are scheduled to start in March along the new railway in the “Medical Academy – Krasno Selo” section.
13 new Siemens trains have already been delivered to Sofia.
Currently 12 km of Line 3 are being constructed. By the end of this year, the first 8 of them will be commissioned – from the Vladimir Vazov Blvd, through Oborishte, Orlov Most (Eagle’s Bridge), the Sofia Centre, the National Palace of Culture, through Alexandrovska Hospital, Bulgaria Blvd to Krasno Selo. During the first half of 2020 the second stage will also be commissioned – 4 kilometres with 4 metro stations from the Krasno Selo Residential Area through the Ovcha Kupel Residential Area, to the Sofia Ring Road in Gorna Banya Residential Area.
