THE REGIONAL HISTORICAL MUSEUM – SOFIA opens the exhibition "Chronicles from the Studio. 130 years of Vasil Zahariev – artist, teacher, researcher". The temporary exhibition officially opens its doors in the building at 1 Banski Square on July 17, 2025 (Thursday) at 6:00 p.m.
The Regional History Museum – Sofia marks the 130th anniversary of the birth of the Bulgarian artist Vasil Zahariev with a special exhibition. The exhibition presents both the personality of Zahariev and his multifaceted professional activities. Original works, personal belongings, preserved authentic documents and photographs from the artist’s rich archive are on display.
Vasil Zahariev is a graphic artist. Along with his works in various graphic techniques, he also works in the field of applied graphics. His work has won recognition at a number of forums. Among them is the Second International Exhibition of Fine Arts in Fiume (today Rijeka, Croatia), where he received an honorary distinction.
In parallel with his work as an artist, Vasil Zahariev established himself as a lecturer at the Academy of Arts. He taught students in graphics and decorative arts. In the period 1939 – 1943, he also held the position of rector at the Academy.
Over time, Zahariev's attention shifted to the field of research. He published texts on various topics. Most of his research was devoted to the art of the Bulgarian Renaissance.
The current exhibition of the Regional History Museum - Sofia, dedicated to Vasil Zahariev, is available for visit in the central building at 1 Banski Square in the period July 17 – November 30, 2025.
