The Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra and the National Philharmonic Choir give their audience two iconic performances from their repertoire.


Today (April 16) - Verdi's Requiem, On Easter (Sunday) April 19 - "Mass for Peace" by Karl Jenkins

Today, on  April 16, fans of classical music will have the opportunity to hear Verdi's Requiem conducted by Austrian Friedrich Pfeiffer.

Soloists: Evgeniya Ralcheva (soprano) Violeta Radomirska (mezzo soprano), Mikhail Mikhailov (tenor) and Ivailo Dzhurov (bass).

On Easter (Sunday) April 19, the audience will have the opportunity to hear a recording of "Mass for Peace" by Karl Jenkins under the direction of Naiden Todorov.

A Mass for Peace by Jenkins is a unique piece of contemporary classical music, and it will be performed under the conduction of  Nayden Todorov.

Soloists: Maria Tsvetkova - soprano,Olga Mihaylova-Dinova -  mezzosoprano, Osman Khayrulov - tenor, Plamen Kumpikov - bass, Plamen Beikov - bass.
 
The Mass is dedicated to the victims of the Kosovo war, but today it is taking on a new meaning. It is based on traditional Catholic mass, which Jenkins combined with other sources - mainly the fifteenth-century folk song L 'Homme armé, in the first and last part. Quotations from other religious and historical sources, including Islamic prayer, the Bible and the Mahabharata, are included in addition to the main texts typical of Catholic masses.
