“For the last few years, we have built 10 school sports halls and gyms, and we are currently expanding the building of First English Language School and 112th Elementary School, where a new gym is also included. In 149th Secondary School in Ovcha Kupel 2, we build a sports hall and teaching rooms for craft activities”, said the mayor of Sofia, Yordanka Fandakova during the inspection of the construction works together with the mayor of Ovcha Kupel district, Hristina Semerdzhieva.

Fandakova pointed out that she has assigned to the Chief Architect of Sofia to prepare a procedure for six sports halls. Currently the preparation of the procedure is under way. They are in the districts Mladost, Krasno Selo, Lyulin, Vitosha and Studentski.

Furthermore, projects under the Integrated Urban Recovery and Development Plan have been prepared for the extension of the 9th French Language High School "Alphonse de Lamartine" with a teaching block and a multifunctional sports hall and gym.

149th Secondary School was built in the 90s of last century with two buildings. The one, which was supposed to have gym, was not finished. At the end of last year, construction works began for the completion of the building. It is part of the school's teaching complex and consists of two units: one for a gym and another for teaching rooms and service premises.

They are connected to the main building of the school by a walkway.

The construction works should be completed by the beginning of the new academic year. 

Building of the yard and playgrounds is also planned.

Mayor Fandakova also pointed out that we are preparing a program for the development of the school network in order to provide one-shift system in schools.
