Sofia is among the 10 cities where a coalition of international organizations will invest in the development of innovative schools. The project concept includes the establishment of an educational institution with a development of pre-school education and culture.

This was announced after the meeting between the Mayor of Sofia – Mrs. Yordanka Fandakova and the chairman of the Organization of the Jews in Bulgaria “Shalom“ Alexandar Oskar, Josh Spinner – CEO of the Ronald S. Lauder Foundation, the President of “Education, Resources and Technologies” Emil Kalo and American Joint’s Director for Europe – Diego Ornique.

Sofia was chosen for the implementation of the innovative project, due to the steady rate of development, political stability, as well as the close relations of the Municipality with the Jewish community.  Sofia is also the only city on the Balkans and in Eastern Europe, where such a project of significant importance for multicultural dialogue and understanding, will be implemented.

During the meeting, the representatives of the Jewish organizations acknowledged the excellent development of Sofia and the activities of the team, led by Mayor Fandakova.
