Fifteenth International Competition "YOUNG VIRTUOSOS"
International Composers Competition "PANCHO VLADIGEROV 2019"

The Organizing Committee of the Young Virtuosos Foundation in collaboration with the Intellectual Legacy of Pancho Vladigerov Foundation are proud to announce the edition of the International Composers Competition "PANCHO VLADIGEROV 2019" in the categories PIANO WORKS and WORKS FOR CHAMBER ENSEMBLE. The works should be written in particular for the competition and to be associated with the 120th anniversary of the birth of the classic of the Bulgarian music Prof. Pancho Vladigerov. The International Jury sessions will be held in Sofia from 9 to 13 December 2019.

The International Composers Competition "PANCHO VLADIGEROV 2019" takes place within the framework of the annually competition “Young virtuosos”, open to young performers, from throughout the world. The competition provides new opportunities to compete and communicate with their peers, to explore and exchange original ideas, to interpret classical and contemporary music, to present their talent to eminent musicians who have proven themselves on the global music scene. The agenda of the International competition “Young virtuosos” also includes a number of artistic meetings, a workshop, an “Academy of Mastery”, as well as concert performances by renowned musicians.

Since 2013 the Competition is member of the European Union of Music Competitions for Youth - EMCY.

The first edition of the International competition “Young Virtuosos“ took place in 2004, when Ms. Milka Miteva, suggested it as a way to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the creation of the first music educational institution. The competition is organized annually in different categories.

In honor of the Bulgarian musical heritage, part of the categories bear the names of some of the most prominent Bulgarian musicians and educators such as prof. Liuba Encheva, prof. Sava Dimitrov, prof. Kyril Karel Stary, and prof. Dr. Dobri Paliev, prof. Georgi Badev.

With a special decision of the organizers of the competition in 2018 the composition contest will bear the name of the classic of the Bulgarian music Prof. Pancho Vladigerov.
