Church was built in the period 1922-1925 on the idea of Yordanka Filaretovaq great Sofia benefactress, as a part of a charitablecompound for homless and sick aged people.

The church was constructed by the engineer Heinrich as the first ferroconcrete church in Sofia. The frescoes were made by the painters Kozhuharov and Sotirov and the wood carvings by Todor Hristov. The tsar icons of the Virgin Mary and Jesus Christ were painted by Nikolay Rostovtsev.
