Church was consecrated in 1900 in honour of St. Nikolas of Sofia who died as a martyr in 1555. The project was made by the achitect Anton Tornyov.

The beautiful iconostasis is the result of the long work of the wood-carver brothers Lazar and Nestor Aleksievi. Some of the icons in the iconostasis were painted by the painters Gospodin Jeliazkov and Apostol Hristov in 1922.
