4th edition of the CULTURAMA FESTIVAL

From August 10 to October 1, 2022, in Sofia

The "Cultural Perspectives" Foundation, organizer of the 4th edition of the CULTURAMA festival, is pleased to invite Sofia music lovers to several exciting events. The autumn cycle of CULTURAMA begins on August 10 at 07:00 PM in the Triangular tower of Serdika at the Regional Histоry Museum – Sofia  with a concert by Ina Kancheva and the British quartet Consone, which bears the romantic name "Love and the Life of a Woman", and in its program we will hear works by R. Schumann, F. Mendelssohn and G. Mahler.

The Consone Quartet was the first early instrument quartet to be selected as a BBC New Generation Artist, quickly making a name for themselves with their honest and expressive interpretations of classical and early romantic repertoire. Winner of the Royal Overseas League Ensemble Award, and in 2022 they receive the prestigious Borletti-Buitoni Trust (BBT) Scholarship. The quartet has been enthusiastically received in London's Wigmore Hall, King's Place, St. Martin in the Fields, as well as at festivals in Edinburgh, Cheltenham and Buxton, etc. Played at the Paris Philharmonic String Quartets Biennale and at the Lyon Auditorium in France; at Concertgebouw Brugge and AMUZ in Belgium; in the REMA Show-case; in the Concerts d'été à St Germain in Switzerland and on tour in Bolivia and Peru.

Ina Kancheva is an artist who fascinates and captivates the audience with her music. An opera singer with a knack for reincarnation, she sings with ease and shares her joy of singing in a surprisingly natural way. The wide range and color spectrum of her dramatic coloratura soprano is evident in her rich vocal repertoire – from baroque to bel canto to the art of song. Her voice with virtuosity recreates the musical parts in a new way and creates one-of-a-kind vivid interpretations.

On August 11 the intriguing creative collaboration of the British quartet for ancient instruments with the stellar Bulgarian soprano promises the Plovdiv audience an exceptional musical performance and delight for the senses – Concert "Love and the life of a woman" – Ina Kancheva and Consone Quartet in the Regional Ethnographic Museum Plovdiv.

The CULTURAMA festival program continues in September and will meet the audience with outstanding musicians from the European and world scenes.

The daring and innovative quartet Anches Hantées, the unexpected transcriptions and stunning arrangements of Clair-obscur, the phenomenal Cabaret Contemporain and their electronic music with acoustic instruments, the stratospheric sax quartet Los Saxos Del Averno, the French electronic music composer and DJ Chloé and the extraordinary pianist , born in France – Thomas Enhco, are just some of the names of the international artists with whom the CULTURAMA festival will meet us. The Bulgarian presence at the festival in an interesting artistic collaboration with international musicians is due to the operatic soprano Ina Kancheva, the Bulgarian percussionist and composer Vasilena Serafimova and the bright contemporary musician who easily and skilfully handles the wide variety of forms in his performing and composing activities – Antoni Donchev.

The festival is part of the Calendar of Cultural Events of Sofia Municipality.
