The Sofia CulTour mobile app has been released – an interactive platform, virtual cultural events guide, cultural-historical landmarks, museums, cultural routes in the capital. Entirely for free Sofia CulTour quickly and easily provides the user with a choice where, when and what to visit. The goal of the initiative is to draw the attention through technologies to the cultural-historical heritage of Sofia and to provoke interest in museums, art galleries and cultural events both in young people and in the city’s foreign guests.

The app operates in the following manner: the user downloads Sofia CulTour for free on his/her mobile device and upon opening the system identifies the location and sets options for choice of cultural-historical landmarks, museums, art galleries/exhibitions, theater/opera/ballet/concert, walking tour of Sofia, churches, state institutions, traditional restaurants. Apart from active search, the system also offers active notifications about sites and events nearby. The first version of the application is entirely ready and a second, even better one is already in the works, which in the nearest future will offer the users new functionality like planning individual cultural routes etc.      

The app was developed by Base Systems (creators of the “Listen” platform – real-time translation into the sign language), and the project was funded by Sofia Municipality’s program “Culture”.

You can download Sofia CulTour for free from Google Play, and starting from June 8th – from the Аpp Store as well.
