This is a name given to a string of about 40 monasteries in the vicinity of Sofia, a circle of sanctity shining like a nimbus around the city that bears the name of God’s Wisdom. The monasteries were founded at various times – from the 4th to the 20th century.

The building was built in 1873. In 1879, the building became the residence of Prince Batenberg.

The mineral springs are indispensable life-giving centre in the history of Sofia, already from the VI-V century BC. They are one of the symbols of the capital and are included in its coat of arms.

The construction of the library St.St. Cyril and Methodius started in 1942 on the design of architects D. Vasilyov and Iv. Tzolov. The library is an architectural and artistic monument of culture of national importance.

On May 25, 1925 began the construction of the new building of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, which now-a-days we know as the central building of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.

At the end of the XIX century, the famous Bulgarian merchants and donors, the brothers Evlogi and Hristo Georgievi provided the amount of 6 million levs for the construction of a modern university building.

The Boyana Church and its adjacent territory, as a monument of culture, is the third-ranking architectural and historical reserve in Sofia. The church is the only monument of culture of Sofia Municipality, which in 1979 was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Buyuk (Big) Mosque is the oldest preserved building in Sofia from the medieval period the city.
