Обратно 7 leading architecture offices submitted their designs for the reconstruction of the Sv. Nedelya Square

 

Seven leading architecture offices submitted their designs within the international competition, organized by the Sofia Municipality for the restoration and renovation of the public space of the Sv. Nedelya Square.

These are: the OW/MA/CL consortium, with consortium members: One Works, Maofficina, Сracknell; Studio Paola Vigano; Konkurent-90 EOOD; Wilmotte Studio; Studio Fuksas; AI Joint venture Architects LLD , CLAB Architettura, Yuri Sheredega, Dina Dridze, Evgeniy Shirinyan; Consortium "GTRF & Studio Morfe" with consortium members: Studio Morfe and Giovanni Tortelli Roberto Frassoni Architetti.

On 28 and 29 November the international jury will evaluate and rank the concept designs. Among the members of the jury are the architects general of Moscow and Warsaw, architects from Rotterdam, Athens, Tirana, as well as representatives of the Chamber of Architects in Bulgaria, the Architects Union, the Regional History Museum Sofia, the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy, the Architecture and Urban Planning Department and the Municipal Council of Sofia.

The international competition for the reconstruction of the Sv. Nedelya Square, along with the displaying of the exposed architectural heritage was announced this February. 14 teams took part in the first stage of the competition, and 7 of them were admitted to the second stage – preparation of a concept design. These 7 teams include renowned architecture offices from Italy, France, Russia and Bulgaria.

The authors of the design that ranks first, will be assigned by the Sofia Municipality with the development of all the designs for the renovation of the Sv. Nedelya Square.
