"This Saturday, March 31, starts the spring afforestation season of the New Forest of Sofia. It is located in "Suhodol" district, near the old landfill that we reclaim”, said Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova, who, together with volunteers, took part in today's planting.

Saplings of oak, linden and acacia are being planted.

Our goal is to plant 120 000 trees by the end of the year. Last year, together with over 1 000 volunteers, we planted the first 12 000 trees.

The location can be reached by bus 56A.

"This is the new green wedge that will contribute to the cleaner air in the city. The afforestation of municipal lands has not stopped this year as well. ME "Land and Forests" will plant additional 200 decares. Last year, at the instigation of Deputy Mayor Ioana Hristova, we launched The New Forest project. The other program of the municipality is My green kindergarten and my green school, within which 500 trees will be planted", also said Fandakova.

The landfill in Suhodol is being reclaimed. The sustainable green policy is to stop waste disposal after we have built modern household waste treatment plants.

This year continue the initiatives for afforestation and renovation of the parks in Sofia.
