Обратно The first of the 13 trams from Operational Programme “Regions in Growth” has arrived

The first of the 13 new low-floor trams from Operational Programme “Regions in Growth” 2014-2020 has arrived in Sofia.

The vehicles are low-floor and air-conditioned, with a platform for strollers and people with disabilities, as well as sound signalization for blind people. Video surveillance is also provided. The length of the trams is 30 metres and special seats for people with disabilities and mothers with strollers are provides. The new carriages will replace the vehicles currently of tram line No. 5.

The trams are manufactured by the Polish company PESA Bydgoszcz SA as part of a contract, concluded with Sofia Public Electrical Transport Company JSC at the end of January this year. The total worth of the contract is 44.7 million BGN excluding VAT. Also included are the delivery of spare parts, diagnostic equipment and training of staff. The contract is part of the project “Integrated Sofia Public Transport – phase II”, that is being implemented with the financial support of Operational Programme “Regions in Growth” 2014-2020, co-funded by the EU through the European Regional development Fund.
