The first Cultural Center of China for Central and Eastern Europe opened in Sofia.

The Deputy Minister of Culture of China, Zhang Xu, arrived in Sofia especially for the event and pointed out that the center contributes to the partnership with Bulgaria and with Sofia in particular.

"The new center is yet another space for culture in Sofia, located near the center of ancient Serdika", said Mayor Fandakova. In her words, the place is on the ancient Silk Road. Sofia Municipality and the Embassy of the Republic of China have a steady partnership in the field of culture. In 2016, Sofia hosted the 16+ Meeting aimed at cooperation between China and the sixteen Central and Eastern European countries.

Opening of a Bulgarian Cultural Center in China is planned.
