During the summer months, Sofia Municipality organizes a program of cultural events that take place in the open and the access is free.

“The municipality of Sofia and I, as mayor, have the mission, the vision and the goal to develop the cultural spaces in the city, to attract new audiences, because for me, culture is an integral part of education so that culture and education together could make our city a better place for living, a better place for investment”, said he Mayor of Sofia, Yordanka Fandakova, at the presentation of the summer cultural program.

Every year during the summer, Sofia Municipality organizes a program of cultural events that take place in the open and the access is free. The summer cultural program of Sofia Municipality includes over 50 concerts and outdoor performances and events for children. They will take place at the summer stages of the Boris’ Garden, the "Sedmochislenitsi" Garden, in the parks "South", "North" and "Zaimov" and other open spaces in Sofia. For the first time, the program is also published in a special edition - "CalendArt" and is distributed in the Bulgarian and the English languages. It is also available on the website of the “Culture” Directorate of Sofia Municipality.

Among the concerts are the Sofia Brass Band at the Municipal Cultural Institute - House of Culture “Iskar”, Sofia Jazz Formation at the Municipal Cultural Institute “Nadezhda” and concerts from the “Island of Music” cycle organized by the Municipal Cultural Institute - House of Culture "Sredets". Children are entertained with shows, games and amusement that include the audience as a participant, presented by the actor Dechko Chuntov, Fire Theatre, Art Theatre, Marietta and Marioneta, Pan Theatre and others.

The events of the summer cultural program take place at the Summer Stage of the Boris’ Garden, Zaimov Park, “Banski” Square, the South Park, the Cabana Cinema, in the Park of the National Palace of Culture (at the summer stage in the park in front of the National Palace of Culture, entrance from "Fridtjof Nansen" Blvd., as well as at the new locations - in the Rosary in the Boris’ Garden, in the "St. Sedmochislenitsi" Garden, on “Sveta Nedelya” Square and “Slaveykov” Square.

Concerts and children's programs in a special open-air summer cultural program of Sofia Municipality are traditionally organized over the years, during the summer months, as part of the Calendar of Cultural Events of Sofia Municipality, with a separate budget.
