Обратно Project “Unfolding the Potential of Young People in the Danube Region for Business and Social Innovation”

Sofia Municipality participates as a partner in the international project “Unfolding the Potential of Young People in the Danube Region for Business and Social Innovation” (NewGenerationSkills) implemented under the Interreg Danube Transnational Programme 2014-2020, funded by the European Union.

The project aims to improve innovation management measures and strengthen cooperation between the key stakeholders in the Danube Region. In the process of implementation, partners - local authorities, universities, innovation development centres, small and medium-sized enterprises and civil society organizations will jointly explore, develop and test innovative strategies to encourage youth entrepreneurship.

The main activities focus on studying the experience of the partnering cities in the policies and measures for education and employment of young people aged 15-29, in transition from education to the labour market.

A series of peer review meetings were held.

Project partners recently started exchange visits in all seven countries. The objective of this project element is to get familiar with each other’s good practices, local initiatives and experiences related to youth entrepreneurship and youth skills improvement.

Leading project partner is the local government of District of Újbuda, Budapest (Hungary) and besides Sofia, other partner cities are Belgrade (Serbia), Maribor (Slovenia) and Graz (Austria). Other project partners are the Regional Development Association of the city of Cluj, the University of Belgrade, the Small Business Development Centre at the University of Budapest, as well as three non-governmental organizations from Slovenia, Austria and the Czech Republic.
