Обратно Fandakova: We succeeded in making municipal hospitals competitive

Sofia Municipality has invested a total of 55 million leva in municipal health services over the last four years, said Mayor Yordanka Fandakova during a visit to the renovated general surgery at First city hospital. New endoscopy equipment was purchased for the hospital for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

Sofia Municipality is investing on average between 8 and 9 million leva per year in support of municipal hospitals for activities not funded by the National health insurance fund. This year alone the municipality has invested over 600 thousand leva in First city hospital. We succeeded in making our hospitals competitive. First city hospital has also become the first municipal university hospital, allowing the specialists to attain academic rank, Mayor Fandakova also pointed out.

According to Fandakova there is a massive change in municipal health services. During the first years in office at the municipality we were forced to save municipal hospitals from bankruptcy or privatization. We supported them, we found good manager teams for them and we are gradually clearing their debts. Sofia Municipality is investing in renovation and equipment in the municipal hospitals and polyclinics.
