At the invitation of Mayor Yordanka Fandakova, Theodore Ushev, nominated for Oscar in 2017, will share ideas on the underground space of the former mausoleum, for which Terms of Reference for competition are being prepared. The Mayor of Sofia met with the artist who visited the site of the former mausoleum.

In order to find the best solution for the upcoming architectural competition, the mayor of Sofia, Fandakova, invited contemporary Bulgarian artists and designers to give ideas and recommendations.

Last year in Sofia, Theodore Ushev presented his first installation for Bulgaria - In a Mirror, Dimly, which was exhibited at the Sofia City Art Gallery.

Sofia Municipality managed to preserve the underground complex in the City Garden and by a decision of the Sofia Municipal Council the site of the Georgi Dimitrov mausoleum will be transformed into a gallery of contemporary art - a branch of the Sofia City Art Gallery (SCAG).

The chairperson of the Committee on Education, Science, Culture and Cultural Diversity at Sofia Municipal Council, Malina Edreva, and Desislava Bineva also attended the meeting.
