Back Mayor Fandakova gave Sofia’s Honorary Recognition Award to Enzio Wezel – the Director of Goethe Institute

"I congratulate you for what you are doing for Sofia. I know Sofia’s motto " Ever Growing, Never Aging" and I believe that this means development." Commented earlier today Sofia’s Mayor Yordanka Fandakova, giving Sofia’s Honorary Recognition Award to Mr. Enzio Wezel – the director of the Goethe Institute in the period 2014 - 2019.

The ceremony was also attended by the Chair of the Permanent Committee of Culture, Education and Cultural Diversity at the Sofia Municipal Council – Mrs. Malina Edreva.

Mr. Wezel received the award for his active role in the implementation of projects in the area of culture and education in Sofia.

Goethe Institute is a significant part of Sofia’s cultural life, of education and the learning of German, commented also Mayor Fandakova.

Goethe Institute’s support for the development of the Academy of Cultural Management is of great significance. The Academy ensures Sofia’s central position in the development of partnerships in the areas of cultural heritage and cultural policies management on the Balkans. Every year Sofia acts as the meeting point of cultural managers from Thessalonica, Bucharest, Sarajevo and Sofia.

Institute’s cultural programme focuses on meetings between Bulgarian and German artists and intellectuals, as well as the presentation of the modern German culture and the encouragement of the German-Bulgarian and general European cooperation in the cultural and spiritual area.  This year, Goethe Institute celebrated the 30thAnniversary of its establishment in Sofia.
