We are commencing the preparation on the first municipal children’s health centre. We are planning to create a municipal children’s health centre in the building that has already been vacated by a centre for drug addictions, said Yordanka Fandakova, Mayor of Sofia Municipality.

Work on planning and execution is in the pipeline. Mayor Fandakova visited the “Maichin Dom” (“Mothers’ Home”) hospital where a telemedical system for remote monitoring of children’s heart sounds for pregnant women was presented. The system is being introduced in Bulgaria for the first time, explained prof. Ivan Kostov, director of the hospital, and prof. Assen Nikolov, director of the gynaecological clinic and national consultant in obstetrics and gynaecology.

Sofia Municipality is collaborating with “Maichin Dom” on programmes in support of in-vitro, screening for breast cancer and myoma.

“Maichin Dom” has the highest number of new-borns and the hospital sets an example in the introduction of new technologies and innovations, said Mayor Fandakova.
