Back Еxhibition: 'The Hat – Then and Now'

The exhibition 'The Hat – Then and Now'
is located in the hall 'Temporary Expositions' on the ground floor
of the Regional History Museum – Sofia

The  exhibition 'The Hat – Then and Now' draws the attention of visitors to the Sofia fashion area with the prevailing Bulgarian tastes and foreign influences. The chronological line in the exposition starts from the end of the 19th century, continues during the turning point of the 20th century and reaches the current trends.

Among the interesting models presented in the exhibition is the hat both as a functional necessity and an aesthetic sign. Allocates a place in the exhibition of historical examples, a product of metropolitan fashion designers and studios or imported from abroad. These accessories are part of the fund of the Regional History Museum in Sofia.

The other part of the exhibition presents modern hats. The women's ones are by the designer Irina Sardareva from 'House of Hats'. Along with her original projects, she restored the fashion attributes from the Museum's collection. The men are the work of Georgi Sardarev. The hats themselves are most often made of silk, wool or felt, and the men and women of Sofia wore their straw hats in the summer.

The visits are carried out in the period February 17 – May 8, 2022 in compliance with all current anti-epidemic measures.
Working hours from 10:00 to 18:00.
