Earth Hour

This year, Sofia Municipality will take an active part in celebrating the Earth Hour initiative, which will take place on 30 March 2019.

In addition to the traditional extinguishing of lights of major buildings in Sofia for one hour, between 20:30 and 21 : 30 hours, temporary mobile points for the collection of specific waste - old electrical and electronic equipment, textile waste and hazardous waste will be uncovered for the day. Mobile stations will be located in the parking lot of Batenberg Square between 11:00 and 16:00.

For the second consecutive year Earth Hour will open a Farm Market with a rich variety of farm and craft food of small producers from different parts of the country. It will be located in the garden opposite the National Theater and will be open between 10:00 and 18:00

In addition to initiatives, Sofia Municipality will illuminate the green signal of 50 heartbeat pedestrian traffic lights in the city - making a clear message of love for nature and reminding citizens to turn off their lights in the evening, by taking part in the world's initiative.

The citizens of Sofia and the guests of the town are also invited to the traditional extinguishing of lights for the Hour of the Earth and the accompanying fire show at the National Theater Ivan Vazov from 20:30.
