Dimitar Karanikolov's "Natural Kaleidoscope" shows the Earth from above

 

The National Museum of Natural History at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, WWF – Bulgaria, Sofia Municipality and the photographer Dimitar Karanikolov united in support of the Earth Hour campaign with the photo exhibition "Natural Kaleidoscope". It was opened on World Forest Day – March 21, and will remain in the open gallery in the Crystal Garden in Sofia until April 1.

The topics in the exhibition are two:

• The comparison of man with nature is more obvious – there is human presence or human intervention – man against the majestic nature and against the elements – it is clear that people are like dust and we are recently and for a while on this planet.

• The second theme in the exhibition is more abstract textures, which are both part of the macroworld and part of the microworld.

Dimitar Karanikolov is an architect and amateur travel photographer.

The forests of the Amazon above look like lungs, the rock formations of Pamukkale are like a bone structure. Iceland's rivers look like a circulatory system. This shows that we are not only connected to nature, but people are part of the fabric of this nature and we are part of a larger and more ancient planetary organism. The footage presents landscapes from Bulgaria, Mexico, Bolivia, Greece, Turkey, Myanmar, Brazil, Namibia, Botswana, Iceland, Indonesia, Malta, Mongolia and Tanzania.

Earth Hour is another opportunity to show empathy, to be together, to take care of each other and the Earth – our common home.
