Back Mayor Yordanka Fandakova presented film director Bille August with the "Sofia Award"

The Danish film director announced that he was working on the script of the film "The Good King" about Tsar Boris III

Within the "Sofia Film Fest" the Mayor of Sofia Municipality, Yordanka Fandakova presented with the "Sofia Award" the world-famous Danish director, winner of Oscar and two Golden Palms at Cannes, Bille August.

"Sofia Film Fest" is among the favourite film festivals supported by Sofia Municipality because it allows us to enjoy the latest in the film industry and to meet the big artists, said Mayor Fandakova. She congratulated Stefan Kitanov and the whole team of the festival.

I am glad that this year the “Sofia Award” went to a filmmaker with over 30 titles as a director and screenwriter. As UNESCO Creative City of Film since 2014, Sofia has been actively developing culture and film industry, also said Fandakova.

The famous Danish director and winner of "Oscar", Bille August thanked for the award. Bille August presented his latest film "Lucky Per" after the novel by the Danish Nobel Prize–winning author Henrik Pontoppidan before the audience at the 23rd International Film Festival.

Before the audience in Sofia, the director of “Pele Conqueror” and “The House of the Spirits” announced that he was working on the script of "The Good King." In his words, the film would be "about Tsar Boris III, World War II and the wonderful Bulgarian people".

At "Sofia Film Fest" August announced that “The Good King” will be filmed next year in Sofia.

Bille August won the prize of the international organization of film critics FIPRESCI Platinum 90 for lifetime achievement.
