Back Fandakova: Sofia is a development destination also for mass products

Mayor Yordanka Fandakova attended the presentation of a new to the world technological vehicle product developed by Bulgarian engineers

The technology company Visteon Electronics Bulgaria presented today a unique for the world product developed in Bulgaria and introduced in the new generation Peugeot 208. The 3Di-Cockpit system is the first real three-dimensional cluster in cars of series production.

The team of the company employs more than 1 000 engineers. They develop innovative products for the electronics of nearly all automobile manufacturers.

Technological production is the prospect of economic development with high added value. After the rapid development of IT sector in Sofia, which created thousands of jobs and brought back many educated people to our city.

‘Sofia is a development destination also for mass products. Your business is critical for our city’, said the Mayor of Sofia, Yordanka Fandakova at the presentation of the product in the presence of Prime Minister Boyko Borisov.

The production in Sofia is increasing its nominal added value after a series of investments in new production installations and in existing ones in the field of car parts and other industries.

Fandakova pointed out that there are three factors we will continue to work on for development - better environment, administrative services and education.

Regarding the environment, we are implementing specific infrastructure projects, and we are also discussing a test track close to Sofia. We have a strong ambition to change administrative services - more electronic services, faster and more transparent service to citizens and businesses. Education is the key to success of both the city and the companies. With the Executive Director of Visteon, Mr. Ivan Mihaylov we talked about the need for a new specialization in Automotive Electronics at the Technical University and other universities.

The Prime Minister noted that the pace at which the automobile sector in Bulgaria is developing is very good and gave examples of the newly opened factories for production of automobile parts and software in Plovdiv, Dimitrovgrad and Rousse. Prime Minister Borisov stressed the need for collaboration with universities in order to have enough qualified engineers.
