For a second consecutive year Sofia citizens will be able to go to Vitosha Mountain by electric bicycles for rent. Last year we started with 10 electric bikes for a ride in Vitosha Mountain. Now we are commissioning 5 more, which have been developed by a Bulgarian innovative company. This said Mayor Fandakova at the opening of the season. The electric bikes can be rented from the parking lot in front of the National History Museums.

The project is an initiative of Green Sofia of Sofia Municipality and the network for sustainable development with the support of EIT Climate-KIC - the largest public-private partnership in the EU, supporting the development of green innovations. The solution and implementation of the system is of the start-up company ElJoy Bikes, which this year co-operates with E-Mountain Bike.

The Mayor of Sofia, Yordanka Fandakova, described the initiative as another step towards a cleaner Sofia. “Another innovative project aimed at the active citizens of Sofia, regardless of their age”, pointed out Mayor Fandakova and reminded that last summer the bicycles were used both by pupils and students and by a citizen at the age of 80.

In Dianabad, near the Hunting Park on 1, Nikola Gabrovski Street, a second location was opened with five more bicycles.
